AJ Auxerre v Sporting CP 1984. the little town of Auxerre is a newcomer on the European scene and in spite of a 33 years old Szarmach who scores twice in the second leg in Bourgogne, it is well Sporting CP that come through.

1st leg in Lisbon. SCP 2, AJA 0.

2nd leg in Auxerre. AJA lead by 2-0 but SCP qualify thanks to two goals scored in extra-time.
