32 teams tournament held in Brazil.
CHAMPION : GERMANY.
Kramer played the Final instead of Khedira, burnt-out. Also, there was a rotation in attack during the whole tournament (of the men and their position).
Runner-up : Argentina.
Default formation. With mentionned in brackets Enzo Pérez who played the Final instead of Di Maria, unfit to play. Gago can be mentionned as the "twelth man" throughout the tournament.
Semi-finalist and 3rd, The Netherlands.
|The Netherlands 2014|
Semi-finalist and 4th, Brazil.
Neymar missed the semi-finals (against Gemrany) due to injury (agressed by a Colombian defender in the quarter-finals). He was replaced by Bernard. Thiago Silva was for his part missing through suspension (replaced by Dante).
After Guztavo-Paulinho, Ferandinho-Paulinho...it was finally a midfield Guztavo-Fernandinho for the semi-finals. But it has not changed much things. Ramires entered at midifeld in every k-o games. Maicon replaced Alves for the semi-final and the little final.
Amongst the quarter-finalists , France.
With a changing central pairing in defense. If Varane was always the ball-player of it (he started in every matches except for the last match of group against Ecuador as he was given some rest by his coach) there has been some incidents as for the stopper playing next to him : Sakho was the usual starter but was replaced after one hour of play against Ecuador (where he was playing alongside Koscielny) due to injury (so Varane finally played this match). Koscielny was the starter alongside Varane in the Round of 16 alongside Varane. Sakho was called-back to play the quarter-finals against Germany (1-0 loss due to an error of marking by Varane on Hummels, on a free-kick played in the box, 13th minute). Koscielny replaced Sakho at the 72nd minute of the match.
The young and certainly promising, Belgium.
Plus Mirallas at disposal to play in attack.
Winner of the U.S team, not without difficulties then eliminated by Argentina, by 1-nil.
The entertaining team of the tournament, Colombia.
Player1/Player2= r. of 16 match (Uru)/ q-f's match (Bra).
Entertaining until that game against Brazil and that aggression against Neymar (even if it's not the entire team's fault).
The surprise, Costa-Rica.
Winner of the group D (3-1 win over Uruguay, 1-0 win over Italy, 0-0 tie with England) before to eliminate Greece and to be beaten by The Netherlands, each time after a penalty shootout.
The best African team was Algeria (round of 16).
Plus Taïder (midfield), Mesbah (lateral) and the central defender Bougherra, autthor of the goal that launched Algeria to the Finals against Burkina as the captain, but setback during the World event one year after.
At last, Chile, winner of the World champion Spain in the group stage and eliminated by the hosts Brazil in the round of 16.
Shown as they lined against Brazil.
