Champions League Top 100 players by L'Equipe

Here is the European Cup/ Champions League Top 100 very recently* made by L'Equipe using a scoring scale.

First, the scoring scale they decided to apply :

Collective :
- Win : 75 pts.
- Runner-up place : 40 pts.

Individual :
- Top scorer : 40 pts.
- Matches played before 1992 : 4 points
- Matches played after 1992 : 2 points

- 1 goal for a striker : (Ratio number of goals / total matches) X 1 point
- 1 goal for a midfielder : (Ratio number of goals / total matches) X 1,5 points
- 1 goal for a defender : (Ratio number of goals / total matches) X 2 points

- 1 goal in Final for a striker : 15 points
- 1 goal in Final for a midfielder : 22,5 points
- 1 goal in Final for a defender: 30 points

- 1 goal in semi-final for a striker : 10 points
- 1 goal in semi-final for a midfielder : 15 points
- 1 goal in semi-final for a defender : 20 points

- 1 goal in quarter-finals for a striker : 5 points
- 1 goal in quarter-finals for a midfielder : 7,5 points
- 1 goal in quarter-finals for a defender : 10 points

- Clean sheets for a defender : (Ratio number of clean sheets / total matches) x 1 point
- Clean sheets for a goalkeeper : (Ratio nombre de clean sheets / total matches) x 3 points

- Penalty shootouts won by a goalkeeper = 25 points

- Bonus winning captains = 20 points

Notes :

Gullit finished 101st, due to his too low total of matches played. Buffon who finished ahead of him, has no less than 80 matches more than him. If Buffon had won once the Champions League, he would rank 30 places higher, overtaking Zidane.
