Salif Keita, premier ballon d'or africain France Football en 1970 |
First, the lists by country
(non-exhaustive but extended enough). Then the Best 11 of all-time of the African footballers who played in France. Then « roll
of honour », i.e pictures of the players who makes the all-time
team of the Africans of D1/ L1.
And here's the pre-list :
Algeria has the longest list with many
French-born players who have played for the Algerian National Team.

Enyeama l'a emporté. Pourquoi?

A little comment perhaps? At first, the battle was fierce between the current Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and the former Marseille and Bordeaux keeper (and former Saint-Etienne, and Toulon) Joseph-Antoine Bell. Enyeama won. What for? Because of a certain regularity in the performance although he has only two "full seasons" in the Championship of France against 9 for Bell, 10 years wich are ponctuated with many extraordinary saves. But Enyeama embodies the image of the modern goalkeeper. Safe, effective, sometimes even spectacular.
But above all, what does Dahleb at left-back? Well it's simple, that's because I could not decide myself to a 3rd (or 4th class defender if Diarra as such) between Taïwo, its distant predecessor at left-back at OM, Ben Miloud, the excellent libero Naybet (stayed only one season in France, at FC Nantes), the versatile (despite himself) Mahjoub or the always Olympian Nkoulou. "Djilla" Diarra will be in any case the lock behind the undebatable trio of midfielders rather than Mahjoub that we have already mentioned and which was too technical to be confined to hold such a role. Ungrateful. He had to "troubleshoot" at defensive positions either with Racing or the French National Team but here, we keep him in reserve to enter during the play in midfield. And a near-stopper was really needed the between defense and that midfield there.
Otherwise, "no-comment" but perhaps would you find better choices to make? In the case of a blackout, there is in any case a good list that refer to a good number of players. Without modesty.
