"Ivan Curkovic dans PSV - ASSE 76"

After a 1-0 win in a less flashy style than usually at Geoffroy-Guichard thanks to a free-kick by its captain Larqué, Les Verts of Saint-Etienne moves to Philips Stadion for the second leg of the  European Cup semi-finals 1975-1976.

Saint-Etienne proves here that they can take well the role of a team of counter-attack and also thanks to a great performance of its Yugoslavian goalkeeper Curkovic, who staunches admirably well the repeated assaults of the attack of Eindhoven, the champion of Fance team qualifies to the final held in Glasgow where they'll meet Bayern Munich. So thanks to a 0-0 obtained with courage and resolution. If PSV quite logically had the most of chances to score, Saint-Etienne has had good ones too for a pleasant match to see without talking about the suspense that went with. So a quality show, most of all maybe for the numerous supporters of the French team, present in Eindhoven this night there and who, for their part, also made well their work as they did not fail to make themselves heard during almost all the match.

Après une victoire par un but à zéro obtenue à Geoffroy-Guichard grâce à un coup-franc de son capitaine Larqué, et certes dans un style moins flamboyant qu'à leur habitude, "Les Verts" de Saint-Etienne se déplace au Philips Stadion pour la deuxième manche des demi-finales de la Coupe d'Europe des clubs champions 1975-1976.

L'Equipe de Saint-Etienne prouve à cette occasion qu'elle peut très bien endosser le rôle d'une équipe de contre-attaque et puis, grâce à son gardien yougoslave Curkovic, qui contient admirablement bien les assauts  à répétition de l'attaque d'Eindhoven, l'équipe championne de France  se qualifie pour la finale qui se tiendra à Glasgow, pour y affronter le Bayern Munich. Grâce donc à un 0-0 obtenu avec courage et détermination. Si le PSV s'était assez logiquement procuré le plus grand nombre d'occasions, Saint-Etienne avait eu les siennes aussi, et des occasions franches dans un match plutôt plaisant à voir (sans parler du suspense qui l'accompagnait. Donc un spectacle de qualité, surtout peut-être pour les nombreux supporters stéphanois qui avait fait le déplacement et qui, pour leur part, n'avait pas manqué de se faire entendre presque tout au long du match.
